Matt Costa came to Miami! I was so damn excited and nobody here had ever heard of him, so I went by myself. He played in the Heritage Room at Shriver, which I thought was super random (it’s a really small, old fashioned room). Johnathan Rice opened for him, and he was awesome. He told funny stories between all of his songs, and although he appeared to be soft-spoken, he had a great voice with meaningful lyrics. I had never heard of him, but I am glad that I got to see him perform.
Matt Costa sounded exactly like he does on his CD. My friend told me that he never showed up to his sound check before his show, and spent 2 hours at La Bodega instead. I thought it was funny. Regardless, he sounded great and I’m glad that Miami sponsered these talented indie artists to perform for us. I just wish that the other people that went to the show didn’t constantly flash their cameras to take pictures- I felt like I was at a disco ball surrounded by strobe lights. Oh Miami, you love your photo ops.
